Fire at textile factory in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, February 25 (NA) – A fire broke out during the night of Tuesday at a textile factory in Valentín Alsina, in the southern area of the AMBA, where at least 18 fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze. According to the Argentine News Agency, the incident occurred at the corner of Rucci and Liniers streets, where, for reasons under investigation, the fire started, and immediately firefighters from Lanús west, Lanús, Sarandí, Villa Dominico, Dock Sud, and Avellaneda, among others, attended the scene. The head of the Lanús West Volunteer Firefighters, Adrián Arias, stated that after being alerted to the fire, they headed to the place where they observed a large amount of smoke and said: “The protocol that we have for industry at Lanús West Firefighters was activated.” “All crews begin to deploy to achieve control,” revealed Arias in dialogue with TN, while indicating that the fire was contained within a sector of approximately 30 by 40 meters, although the large amount of fabrics, products, and shelves hindered total extinction. The head of Firefighters also stated that the textile factory was closed when the fire broke out and said: “There was no one. It’s like a closed oven, but that helped because, being closed between walls and slabs, it was possible to contain it and it did not spread,” said Arias when speaking about the magnitude of the fire and the accumulation of fabrics generated extreme heat. In the meantime, the causes that originated the fire have not yet been disclosed, and if there are areas in the place that are at risk of collapse. “The place is accessed by two streets and it was possible to enter quickly.” “We had four firefighters with low pressure, the temperature is very high. We had to break gates to enter.
